Early Sunday Morning

We see the makings of a lovely Sunday on this sunny morning in Shelby County. What a relief after yesterday's rain.

It must have been raining in Winfield yesterday on Mule Day. I hope my hometown had a good day anyway.

September trickles to an end. We are rushing to the end of another year.

Surprised Once Again

I can't believe Pelham lost to winless Homewood last night 31 to 28. The Panthers win at Vestavia then lose at home to 0 & 4 Homewood. Go figure.

The Rain

The rain, the rain, the rain! It doesn't seem to want to go away. Isn't enough enough?

Health Care

I went to a Republican health care forum on Tuesday. It was enlightening, although I disagree with the GOP. It was a pretty substantive discourse, although biased. I will probably be going to the Democratic health care forum at Stillman College this Tuesday.

Amazement

On a rainy night in which some local games were postponed and some were suspended, I see where Pelham beat Vestavia 38 to 37 in 3 overtimes. The Rebels missed their point after in the third overtime to give Pelham the win. What a shock. Even if I had known I wouldn't have gone to the game because it was so late in concluding, but still I am amazed that Pelham could beat Vestavia. I can't imagine the last time that happened.

It's Friday Again

It's Friday again---overcast this morning after rain last night and maybe more this weekend.

Another weekend of football beckons. I will not go to Vestavia tonight. The Rebels will beat Pelham easily.

Saturday night should be interesting. Auburn and West Virginia could be a real shootout.

Alabama Gasco

They are always thinking of us consumers. We have a new 12-digit ID number replacing the old 13-digit number. One less digit to write! So they can serve us better. How thoughtful they are!

Cloudy Sunday

So far it's a cloudy Sunday morning.
Moyna and I are vegetating.
What will the day bring?
Not much I suppose.

Pelham vs. Mountain Brook

My earlier optimism for Pelham football was dissipated last night as the Panthers lost to Mountain Brook 36 to 17. Pelham is now 1 & 2 and faces a probable losing season with heavyweights Hoover and Vestavia still on the schedule. The defense couldn't contain Mountain Brook's passing and the Panthers were held scoreless in the second half.

Nonetheless I still enjoyed the visit to Mountain Brook. You can watch the game there standing which is my preferred way of watching a football game.

Tonight is the real game at Jordan-Hare. We'll see how that one goes.

Rainy Tuesday Afternoon

We are enjoying a late afternoon shower. As expected after the holiday weekend, today seems like a Monday.

We watch the local news and are amazed at what happened in some of our schools regarding the President's speech. How utterly silly and stupid of parents and school officials who did not show the speech and then the parents who didn't wish for their kids to hear the President tell them to study hard, stay in school, and take personal responsibility for their lives. Unbelievable!

But then we all know it's all race-based---pure race hatred. If George W. Bush had delivered the same speech, these same people would be cheering.

The End of Summer?

Labor Day is supposed to represent the end of summer. As far as I'm concerned, summer has already ended. It ended with the start of school. It ended with the start of football season. Summer is already over.

Labor Day Weekend

It's a sunny Friday morning leading to this Labor Day weekend. We hope for a good time.

We look forward to relaxing. We look forward to Auburn & Louisana Tech. More than any opening game that I can remember, this matchup has a tremendous element of mystery. Who knows how it will go.

There is something about the cool mornings, the Indian summer of October that we know will come, and the start of football season that gets a body moving. What will happen in the Fall of 2009?
