The beginning of May

Today the Hudsons have taken it easy.

We watched the Kentucky Derby. Moyna entered Dad in a contest in which if you pick the winner, you may win $10,000 and a trip to next year's race if your name is drawn. Dad got the winner, Big Brown; hopefully he will win the contest, but what are the chances of that?

We are sad about Eight Belles. Grandma called and said she had the filly and Big Brown in the exacta, but changed it. I wish I bet on sports. I would bet on horse racing.

I went to a few stores in search of a new couch. I hate going into such places and immediately being descended upon by some salesperson. I try to avoid them, but walking fast and in every direction possible doesn't help. They always find you. They give me the creeps!

The best way to avoid salespeople is to be proactive. Go buy some silly putty. Get a small bit and stick it to the inside of your nostril so that it protrudes slightly. Purchase a can of veg-all and place a carrot in your hair, a pea on your shirt, and a kernel of corn on your cheek. Laugh loudly to yourself. These things always work for me.
