MOYNA'S RAMBLINGS (7)
Well, the New Year has finally (!) begun for Fred & myself. I knew I shouldn't have made that darn resolution...I was put to the test first thing! The week between Christmas & New Year's, Fred got a cold. He goes to his national sales meeting every Jan. 2nd, so when he left this year, I, of course, woke-up with a sore throat. After a few days of that, the cold hit. Thank you Fred. I felt miserable, but kept trying to remain as cheery as possible. After about 10 days, I was almost to my old self. Fred then woke up on Sunday morning (the 14th) feeling ucky. He proceeded to get really sick - throwing up (sorry about being so gross) for 24 hours. I was feeling great - working in the kitchen making desserts for a meeting in Troy, AL, on the 16th. It wasn't to be...that Monday night I woke up around 2 AM and proceeded to join Fred with the stomach virus that is "sweeping the nation" as the national news reports. I was "sick" almost on the hour for 24 hours. I actually stayed in bed for the day; that's something I rarely do, even when sick. It has taken both of us quite a few days to get some energy back & for our stomachs to stop churning, but I think we've made it!! We just don't bounce back in our "old age" as we did when younger.
To get back to my resolution...I DID have a hard time during the stomach virus thanking God for my affliction. But I was trying really hard, and I believe God was with me & had mercy on me. I didn't get as upset as I normally would, and I felt a peace within. We'll see how things go.
And speaking of "old age." I think of myself as being "middle-aged," but a local group of seniors takes people at the age of 50. I told Fred I guess we've left middle-age and are now in the senior age group. I always thought you were a senior at age 60 - unless you're trying for a senior discount at the movies or a restaurant!!
THOSE HUDSONS!!! White trailer trash...they STILL have their Christmas decorations up! I know that's what our neighbors are saying. Yes, we still have them up. Because we've been sick, taking down the decorations wasn't even a thought. I had wanted to take them down before Fred went to his meeting (something new for us), but he wasn't feeling well because of his cold. We usually take them down when he gets back from his meeting, but we just haven't gotten to it. This coming weekend they will come down - I'm really tired of looking at them...
One last thing: I want to wish my parents a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! On the 24th of this month - this coming Wednesday, they will be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary - can you believe what a milestone that is? Most likely, they will celebrate by going out for dinner - or at least by getting some takeout!! It won't be a day any more different than usual! This year, my father will be 89 and my mother will be 83. They are both in pretty decent health, and QUITE SET IN THEIR WAYS (to say the least), as I guess we all get as we age. I wish I could be there to give them a small party to celebrate, but it's not possible. I will call though and they will tell me I didn't need to, but they will be happy I did!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM & POP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Until later.
One last note: please forgive any spelling errors in my "ramblings" - I just type and don't really bother to edit...
